Trostrie Cottage enjoys an amazing panoramic view which 'goes on forever' across the Solway Hills to the North Cumbrian fells. Whilst being set in a tranquil secluded location, midst rolling farmland, the village of Twynholm and the harbour town of Kirkcudbright are only a few minutes drive away, making it an ideal central base from which to explore all the delights of Dumfries & Galloway.

There has been a dwelling on the site since at least the beginning of the eighteenth century. During the period 1950-1990 the house was unoccupied falling into a state of dereliction and being used as a cattle shed! It was partially renovated in the early 1990s. We purchased it in 1993 eventually taking up residence in the spring of 1998 to begin a programme of alteration and extension to meet our own needs and to create a superior ground floor self-catering apartment for two people, with its own private entrance and garden called .......The Shieling.
